VIDEOS: A 13 Year Old Grades Obama and Romney – Our Future Generation Nails It!

My faith and hope in our country has been renewed!  Meet Jenny Cantrell, a 13-year-old student who held Obama and Romney to the same grading system she and her fellow students are required to meet.  She graded them on the economy, business, Obamcare, energy, national debt, and national security.  Jenny’s youth and inexperience in politics kept her open-minded and analytical.

Her teachers and parents should be proud!  She is our hope!

Excellent job Jenny!  After her stint as ‘Teacher for the Day’ Jenny made a follow-up video regarding the auto bailout, unions, the debates, taxes, redistribution of wealth, and the candidates’ values.  She nailed those too!

Five reasons Barack Obama should not be re-elected as President!

Janet Porter is a former Romney critic who now endorses Governor Romney for President.  She gives some very compelling reasons for her conversion.  In the past few weeks I have met several concerned voters who are switching sides this election season.  The other day I was working at our local Romney Victory Headquarters and a woman came in and asked for a Voter Registration application.  She is 51 years old and has never voted before but, like many other concerned citizens, feels this election is too important to be passive.  I am so proud of those who are putting their country before their parties and realizing the financial and security dangers we face.

Ms. Porter discusses the Obama administration’s record on life, marriage, Israel, freedom and most importantly, America:

ALLEN WEST: Black Americans should vote for Mitt Romney

Illustration Obama Crushes by Alexander Hunter for The Washington Times

I am always amazed when Black Americans vote Democrat because ‘they have always been Democrats’.  Why?  Wasn’t Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. a Republican?  I applaud the growing number of Black Conservatives and the values they represent.  For another take on this mindset please read the following article by Rep. Allen B. West via The Washington Times.  He considers Obama’s hand-outs a form of slavery.

America is no doubt the greatest country the world has ever known. Our citizens have the opportunity to be anything they want to be, worship as they please and live as they please. We are truly free.

Still, Americans are suffering. They have lost their jobs, they have lost their home, and in many situations, they have lost hope.

For the black community, the situation is even more dire.

Black unemployment hovers around 14 percent, compared to 8 percent unemployment overall. For black teenagers, the number more than doubles, as 38 percent of black teens are unemployed.

It is not just the undereducated black Americans who are suffering — 6.6 percent of black Americans with at least a bachelor’s degree are unemployed, a rate 50 percent higher than the overall unemployment rate for those with a four-year college degree.

Since 2007, black median household income has declined by 11 percent — the largest decline of all major racial and ethnic groups.

In 2011, the poverty rate among black Americans was 27.5 percent. The poverty rate among blacks living in families headed by women is 41 percent.

President Obama’s programs continue to pour billions into black communities across the country in hopes of curing well-documented socioeconomic problems, including failing schools and inadequate housing, rampant crime and drug abuse, black-on-black killings, unemployment and more. Still, despite the courageous efforts of many local institutions, agencies, school leaders, grass-roots organizations and community residents, the problems remain, and in many places have become worse.

It will take new ideas and new voices to find solutions. It will take a president who is committed to policies of economic freedom as opposed to economic dependency. Mitt Romney’s belief in basic conservative principles of limited government, fiscal responsibility, individual industry leading to self-sufficiency and his beliefs about equality of opportunity will revitalize the black community. Mr. Romney’s policies would enable urban people to empower themselves and, ultimately, become self-sufficient.

When it comes to education, black children are 17 percent of students nationwide, but they are 42 percent of the students in our worst-performing schools. Mr. Romney supports empowering parents of at-risk students in the inner cities to escape failing schools by allowing federal dollars to follow children to the school of their choice.

Many black-owned businesses struggle to gain access to capital that would enable expansion or fund operating costs. Sixty percent of startups are in the white community. Compare that with just 9 percent of startups coming from the black community.

Mr. Romney will reform regulatory policies that can help black-owned businesses increase and thrive. He will reform Dodd-Frank and allow more money to be accessible to responsible black community banks so they can get money into the hands of responsible black entrepreneurs. Lower capital gains taxes and dividends also will incentivize growth in the black community.

Mr. Romney also plans to revisit the concept of urban economic zones, an idea from the late congressman and HUD Secretary Jack Kemp and Reagan economist Art Laffer. Enterprise zones are geographic areas of high unemployment that qualify for special tax breaks.

What Mr. Romney understands is that communities are best served when they’re empowered to care for themselves. The more they come to rely on government checks, the less they learn to rely on their own ability and ingenuity. As my mother always told me, “Self-esteem comes from doing estimable things.”

Conversely, Mr. Obama’s appetite for ever-increasing redistributionary handouts is the most insidious form of slavery remaining in the world today and does not promote economic freedom.

Still, it is easier to convince people that government should be doing something for them that it currently isn’t doing than to convince them that government shouldn’t be doing something for them that it currently is.

More than 95 percent of black voters voted Democratic in the last election. I am hoping we can change this status quo. When you invest your money, you diversify. You don’t put it in one single account. Black Americans need to invest their political capital so they have a voice across the entire political spectrum. If we don’t, the black community will be taken for granted and risk becoming politically irrelevant.

A recent poll showed the percentage of black Americans who have a “strongly positive” view of Mr. Obama has slipped from 83 percent to 58 percent. Those numbers show black Americans are paying attention, and they don’t like what they see.

I grew up in inner-city Atlanta, and I can tell you the most conservative people I know are my neighbors in the black community. It isn’t just in Atlanta. Thirty-three percent of Americans in the black community self-identify as conservatives. They are anti-abortion, and they believe marriage should be between a man and a woman.

Black Americans need to vote their values in November, and they will find themselves more aligned with Mr. Romney and the Republican Party. It is time for the “Party of Lincoln” to re-connect with black America.

Thomas Sowell: ‘Barack Obama is worse than Jimmy Carter’

I think Thomas Sowell is one of the smartest men in the world!  Watch his interview with Neil Cavuto and read the following from  via the Daily Caller.

Some conservatives will readily admit that Republican presidential nominee  Mitt Romney has his share of flaws as a candidate. But he is still much more  preferable than the alternative, President Barack Obama, according to Hoover  Institution scholar-in-residence Thomas Sowell.

“I don’t think Mitt Romney is going to be sparking riots against the American  embassies around the world,” Sowell, the author of “Intellectuals and Society: Revised and Expanded  Edition,” said said in an appearance on Fox Business Network’s “Cavuto” on Thursday. “[I]t’s not a question of whether they love you or not. The  question is whether they respect you. You know, I’m sure the Iranians did not  love Ronald Reagan.  But the fact is they’ve made it their business to get  those hostages loose before Ronald Reagan took the oath of office — in fact,  hours before Ronald Reagan took the oath of office.”

Responding to Romney’s much-publicized 47-percent remarks about those living  off the government last week, Sowell said you want to make that point with your  policy proposals and not necessarily just rhetoric, as Reagan managed to in the  1980s.

“Undoubtedly, I think that’s one of the reasons they don’t come out and say  what they want to say,” Sowell said. “I don’t think there’s anything callous  about wanting able-bodied men to work. You know, what I think is truly callous  is having a system and a set of policies that, in fact, hurts the poor.  I  mean, most — you mentioned Reagan. Now, I came across an old real copy of The  New York Times, which had the front page headlines that the black-white income  difference had narrowed slightly during the 1980s. Now, that’s the Reagan  administration.  More recently, the black-white income difference has  widened greatly under Barack Obama. And yet, Reagan is never regarded as being  someone who’s for the poor or for what not. And Obama is.”

“So the real question is not what is — how does he talk, how does he come  across,” Sowell continued. “The question is what do his policies do to people?  And I think, for example, minimum wages — I was shocked to hear Romney say he’d  be for it. Minimum wages have done enormous damage to young blacks. If you back  to the mid-1940s, the unemployment rate among black teenagers was a fraction of  what it is has been — it was a fraction in 1949, which was a recession year, of  what it has been and even in the most prosperous years since then.”

“And the difference was that in 1949, the minimum wage law had not been  upgraded since 1938. So for all practical purposes, it had been destroyed by  inflation. Once you start reinstating the minimum wage with increases, then you  begin to get to 20, 30, 40 percent unemployment rate among black teenagers. But  in the late 40s, there were years when a black 16-year-olds had unemployment  rates under 10 percent.  Now, the question is not whether you’re  empathizing or not. The question is whether your policies are ruining  people.”

Cavuto later asked Sowell if he thought Obama is like Reagan’s 1980 opponent,  little-loved former President Jimmy Carter.

“I think Barack Obama is worse than Jimmy Carter,” Sowell said. “Carter had  many foolish policies internationally as well as domestically. But I think Obama  has outdone him in both respects.”

Governor Brewer Prevents Obama Turning 80,000 Illegals Into Arizona Welfare Recipients (And Voters?)

By  via The Western Center for Journalism

Governor Jan Brewer has put the kibosh on Barack Obama’s unconstitutional, Dream Act “end run” around the US Congress by signing an executive order that will keep an estimated 80,000 illegal aliens off of Arizona welfare rolls.

In June, Barack Obama directed the U.S. Citizen and Immigration Services (USCIS)—a division of Homeland Security–to provide illegal aliens the means of deferring federal deportation orders. With this Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, the president allows illegals who claim to have come to the United States as children to both avoid deportation and apply for US work permits in their state of residence by meeting any one of a number of conditions of eligibility.

Of course, as ICE Council president Chris Crane has already made clear, no illegal applying under the program is likely to be denied that eligibility.  For according to Crane, “[ICE and Border Patrol] officers have been told there is no burden for the alien to prove anything.”  If they say they qualify by having attended high school or taken a GED, their word cannot be questioned. They’re in!

Much of the major media claim that this presidential decree directing the executive branch to institute portions of the Dream Act (contrary to the will of Congress and the American people) came about via executive order. But that is NOT the case. Rather, Obama simply ignored the fact that the Dream Act had been 5 times voted down in Congress and issued a “demand-by-decree” that portions of the Act be implemented to suit his own political preferences. In short, he just TOLD Janet Napolitano what he wanted immigration-related  agencies of the executive branch to accomplish, and the USCIS is getting it done.

But if, as many have claimed, the Deferred Action program will not put illegals further along the road to citizenship, why was Obama so eager to have it implemented?

Arizona immigration attorney and Dream Act supporter Jose Penalosa provides the answer when he states that individuals covered under Obama’s Deferred Action decree will be the proud members of a brand new “…specific, non-visa immigrant category…” This new, Immigration Department “approved” category will provide these individuals with a special, “authorized presence” within the state, according to Regina Jeffries, Chair of the Arizona Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association.

And members of this new “immigrant category” could use that “authorized presence” to do something no other illegal alien in Arizona can do: that is, legally apply for an Arizona driver’s license, the “…gateway to public benefits in the state.” As Governor Brewer’s spokesman Matthew Benson puts it, “If the state doesn’t have the authority to block these illegal aliens from getting driver’s licenses our agencies will have no way of knowing who is entitled to public benefits.”

But Brewer’s executive order was specifically designed to “…bar people with deferred status from obtaining driver’s licenses or other state benefits.” The two page document therefore blocks the access of these “specially authorized” illegals to the entire welfare system of the state of Arizona! And as a result, Obama is prevented from using the tax dollars of Arizonans to purchase the votes of grateful Latinos!

Over the weekend, Nebraska joined Arizona in denying state benefits to illegals with deferred status. Will other Republican governors have the courage to join the fight?

San Diego Newspaper Rates Obama as Worst President – EVER

Via Union Tribune San Diego

Editor’s note: It’s a presidential election year, so we thought we’d weigh in with our list of the five worst presidents.  We start with, yes, the current incumbent. See our other choices at U-T Opinion online.

(Kasey’s note:  We all know Carter is second, check out the other three!)

He took office at a time when the U.S. economy was on its worst slide in 75 years, but pushed policies using borrowed money that were more meant to preserve government jobs than broadly help the private sector where the great majority of Americans work, ensuring the jobs crisis continued.

He railed against the heavy spending and big deficits of his predecessor, but blithely backed budgets that had triple the deficits ever seen in American history.

He promised a smart, sweeping overhaul of the U.S. health care system, but ended up giving us a Byzantine mess promoted to the public with myths: that offering subsidized care to tens of millions of people would save money; that people would keep their own doctors; that access to care wouldn’t change; and that rationing would never happen.

He promised a more sophisticated approach to the economy than that of his predecessor, but had so little common sense that his health law actually gave businesses a big financial incentive to discontinue providing health insurance to their employees.

He offered hosannas to genius entrepreneurs like Steve Jobs in his prepared remarks, but when speaking off the cuff betrayed his faculty-lounge view of the world, saying of businesspeople, “if you’ve been successful, you didn’t get there on your own.”

He swore to bring overdue oversight and honest accounting to the corporate world, but made flagrantly dishonest claims about General Motors paying back its government loans that would have triggered a criminal fraud investigation in the private sector.

He promised to set a high new standard for ethics in the White House, but used a baffling claim of executive privilege to shield his embattled attorney general from the repercussions of a cover-up involving the death of a federal law enforcement officer.

He denounced his predecessor for permitting harsh interrogation tactics with suspected terrorists, but once in office somehow concluded that a better, more moral approach would just be to use drones to assassinate such suspects without getting any information from them.

He presented himself as a shrewd student of Washington politics, but once in office displayed a counterproductive standoffishness to many Democratic lawmakers eager to embrace him, never developing the broad range of personal relationships that often mark a successful presidency.

He ran as a unifying force who would bring in a new era of civility and racial healing to Washington, but once in office embraced ugly, Chicago-style political hardball that saw nothing wrong with his supporters’ loathsome practice of depicting opposition to his policies as being driven by racism.

He constantly offered praise for the wisdom and insights of the American public, but reacted to the broad discontent over Obamacare, high unemployment and vast deficits by saying it was a failure of his administration to properly explain its glorious record to a confused populace – not a predictable reaction to his struggles and ineffectiveness.

And in December 2011 – at a time in which one-quarter of American adults who wanted full-time work couldn’t find it, after a year in which the federal deficit was a staggering $1.3 trillion – here was what Barack Obama had to say for himself in a CBS interview: “I would put our legislative and foreign policy accomplishments in our first two years against any president, with the possible exceptions of Johnson, FDR and Lincoln.”

Unbelievable. If self-reverence were a crime, our current president would be facing a life sentence. For the good of America, let’s pray we have someone else in charge of the federal government come Jan. 20, 2013.

Dictator Obama Once Again Ignores Laws and Defies Congress by Gutting Welfare Reform

As if the Dictator-in-Chief hasn’t done enough shredding of our Constitution, he has now decided to ignore the 1996 Welfare Reform Act passed by Congress and signed by President Clinton.  Even though Congress deliberately exempted or shielded nearly all of the TANF program from waiver authority, the Dictator has now authorized HHS to do just that.  When will the narcissistic man-child stop acting like a dictator and more like a leader?  When will he stop giving the American people the middle finger and follow our laws? Never!  That is why he has to go…….

From Amy Payne via Heritage

The imperial Presidency has overturned Congress and the law again. Not content to stop at rewriting immigration policy, education policy and energy policy, yesterday, President Obama’s Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) released an official policy directive rewriting the welfare reform law of 1996. The new policy guts the federal work requirements that were the foundation of the Clinton-era reform.

While this real news occurred yesterday, most of the media remained fixated on political ads and speeches, letting a major and unilateral shift in America’s welfare system go nearly unreported.

Welfare reform replaced the old Aid to Families with Dependent Children with a new program, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF). The Heritage Foundation played a pivotal role in building bipartisan consensus for the reform and providing many of the recommendations that became part of the law. The whole point was that able-bodied adults should be required to work or prepare for work as a condition of receiving welfare aid.

This reform was very successful. TANF became the only welfare program (out of more than 70) that promoted greater self-reliance. It moved 2.8 million families off the welfare rolls and into jobs so that they were providing for themselves. Child poverty fell, and single-parent employment rose. Recipients were required to perform at least 20–30 hours per week of work or job preparation activities in exchange for the cash benefit.

Now, Obama’s HHS is claiming that it can waive those work requirements that are at the heart of the law, and without Congress’s consent.

When it established TANF, Congress deliberately exempted or shielded nearly all of the TANF program from waiver authority. They explicitly did not want the law to be rewritten at the whim of HHS bureaucrats. In a December 2001, the non-partisan Congressional Research Service clarified that there was no authority to override work and other major requirements: “Effectively, there are no TANF waivers,” it reported.

But that did not stop the Obama Administration, which has been increasing welfare spending at an alarming rate already. President Obama has added millions to the welfare rolls, and his Administration has come under fire lately for its efforts to expand and add more Americans to the food stamp program.

This is a chronic problem: Over the past two decades, welfare spending has grown more rapidly than Social Security and Medicare, education, and defense. The TANF reform was one small step in the direction of reducing Americans’ dependence on government programs and getting them back on their feet. Cutting its work component is likely to unnecessarily swell the ranks of welfare recipients and with no way to pay for it.

Heritage experts Robert Rector and Kiki Bradley explained further in their comprehensive analysis of yesterday’s announcement:

In the past, state bureaucrats have attempted to define activities such as hula dancing, attending Weight Watchers, and bed rest as “work.” These dodges were blocked by the federal work standards. Now that the Obama Administration has abolished those standards, we can expect “work” in the TANF program to mean anything but work. The new welfare dictate issued by the Obama Administration clearly guts the law.

Obama certainly didn’t tell people he was going to gut welfare reform when he was running for President in 2008—and why would he? “Welfare horror stories helped elect Ronald Reagan,” wrote Mickey Kaus of The Daily Caller. “A promise to ‘end welfare as we know it’ elected President Clinton…And in 2008, Barack Obama didn’t dare suggest that he wanted to do what he has done today.”

While the 1996 welfare reform successfully moved people from welfare into work, it did not “end welfare as we know it.” Now, however, the Obama Administration has ended welfare reform as we know it. The President cannot hide his disastrous unemployment record by depriving Americans of the hope of a job. He should immediately reverse this course, and offer constructive ideas for economic growth rather than government dependence.
